As the headline says – just like in video games growing up, we never played with Utah Jazz, well now you should LeBron and KD. These were comments made by the All-Star Captain ‘Lebron James’ from the Western Conference when he was asked why the Jazz players were the last two to be picked in the All-Star Draft. The funny part is, Lebron and KD took Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers calling him the “big man he requires on the court’ and KD took the Sophomore kid Zion from the New Orleans Pelicans who are way below the Playoffs mark over Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

Well, let us talk about the Jazz now in 2021 – League Best Record at 27 – 9, All-Star selections – 3, MVP Ladder – 10th Donovan Mitchell, Tops every Power Ranking List in 2021. The ranking and the best record shift every year would have been the much obvious Lakers or the Bucks, if not them the stacked Nets, Kawhi’s Clippers, or the Boston Celtics – but who would have thought it would be the Utah Jazz. The team who started slowly every season, have been a Playoff 5-6 seed who would be uncertain on the team rotations, players unfit and getting eliminated from the 1st round of the playoffs have been the agenda for quite a few years, but this is bound to change this season. The team seems to be a legitimate threat to the top NBA teams.

Started the season with 3-3 the team has improved to 27-9 where they have won 24 and lost just 4 since then. Jazz is currently 1st in 3 point shooting percentage at 48.3% at 17 threes made per game. Much improved defense with floor general Rudy Gobert currently at 2nd Position for NBA Defensive Player of the year and Jordan Clarkson being the frontrunner for the Sixth Man of the Year. They currently have a Top 5 offensive rating in the NBA and still going strong

After losing out in Game 7 against the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Playoffs last season, they made not a lot of changes in the squad but have but the major shift has been on the defensive mode. The Nuggets are allowing the lowest three-point opponent FG% and overall 3rd in the NBA Defensive ratings behind the Lakers and the Philly. Jazz also leads in Rebounds per game and the rebounding overall percentage – much thanks to the big men Favors and Gobert.

One of the major shift Jazz experienced is the peaking of 6th man Jordan Clarkson, 1st time NBA All-Star Mike Conley, and 3 Point Sniper Bojan Bogdanovic both of whom were added the past season to improve on the offensive end which was one of the major drawbacks back then and had to depend on the defense to win matches for the squad and the rest of the role players giving a heads-up to the wins.

But now the question arises, will the Jazz be an NBA Championship Contender, well this shall be an early opinion i.e currently the main season or the competitive season starts to post the All-Star Break, and with this form, Jazz will easily be a Top 2 seed in the West and could have an entertaining Season for the Jazz fans.

Zach LaVine – Is the NBA Media at Fault?

There is one guy every season who is overlooked in the case for MVP, All-star snubs, Most Improved Player, 6th Man of the Year and the list goes on. A lot of NBA Execs said that Lebron should have been MVP when Giannis Antetokoumpo won it the last season, James Harden won in 2017-18. Bradley Beal is getting snubbed for the All-star selection in 2019-20 and Dennis Schroeder getting snubbed for the 6th man of the year in the past season as well. However, there has been one player who has been constantly overlooked for All-star selections, MVP race, Most Improved Player, and i.e. Zach LaVine.

2x Slam Dunk Champion has been on a constant rise since his trade to the Bulls from the Timberwolves. In 2017, the Wolves traded LaVine to the Jordan land i.e. Chicago Bulls in exchange for Jimmy Butler and I guess he ‘Took that Personally’. This brought the real game out of LaVine who was just known for his high-flying dunks in the Timberwolves and with the departure of Jimmy Butler, the Bulls became a team with no expectations and were expected to be a lottery pick in 2017. This gave LaVine free-flow in his gameplay. In his 1st season with the Bulls, he averaged -16.7 pt, 3.9 rebs, and 3.0 assists in 24 games played in that season. With 2 full seasons played, LaVine just improved his averages to 23.7 pts, 4.7 rebs, 4.5 assists in 2018-19 season and 25.5 pts, 4.8 rebs, 4.2 assists in 2019-20 which was highly a snubbed season due to Covid-19 and Bulls failing to qualify for the Playoffs. His heroics was constantly overlooked for his team not qualifying for the Playoffs and losing games on a constant basis. A lot of people expected to make him a highly rated case for All-star Selections and Most Improved Player but was not even considered wherein a lot of newbies got a check-in for the All-star games.

One of the major reasons I feel for this kind of snubs and lack of consideration is LaVine and Chicago Bulls getting overlooked every season due to poor records. Players like Zion, Luka, Trae rose up to the game at an early stage where social media was at its peak and these players were followed and covered since Year one of their college era. If we consider the National TV schedule for Chicago Bulls, this season is only two games out of the total games of the season however Lakers, Warriors, Mavericks, Celtics, Pelicans, and Los Angeles Clippers have at least five appearances in the National TV Schedule.

Finally this season, LaVine got what he deserved, got his 1st All-star selection, and was the highest in the All-Star reserves. He currently averages -28.8 pts (6th in the NBA), 5.3 rebs (77th in NBA), 5.0 assists (20th in NBA) with PER rate of 22.89, and has a career-high FG% of 52.3% and 3 points of 44.0% in 31 games played as per 27/2/21 and Chicago Bulls currently sits 7th in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 15-16 under new coach Billy Donovan. Here the question arises, if the Bulls have improved drastically, LaVine is at his career-best, why is he not a Top 10 in current MVP Ladder. Let us have a look at the Current MVP Ladder.

LaVine ranks better in Points Per Game than 5 of the Top 10 player in the MVP Ladder, Ranks better by two players in assists per game, and has the best 3PT FG% of the Top 10 lot and the 2nd best for the overall Field Goal % just behind the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokoumpo. Chicago Bulls will be clearly a lottery pick team if we take LaVine out of the Bulls squad and surely should be a Top 5 pick for the MVP conversation.

However, I will state the possibility of him not getting the much-deserved recognition.

2. No coverage of Bulls Gameplay by Bleacher Report, House of Highlights, and the rest of the social media accounts
3. Lack of Playoffs experience.
4. No star power post-Derrick Rose era.

How Does Rajon Rondo Injury Stands for Lakers

It has not even been a week where the NBA Players have returned from the COVID break and have resumed their practice, there have been a lot of ups and downs since the Orlando Bubble have resumed where the players have slowly decided to get accustomed to the situations in the Bubble. A lot of complains received for the quality of food and whatnot and here we are introduced to #wholenewgame
As LA Lakers have been the team that I talked about in my last article where I have discussed how JR Smith is or is not an eligible 12th Pick & now we here about Rajon Rondo getting sidelined for about 5-6 weeks due to hand fracture, but is expected to make a comeback post 1st round of playoffs. Here we have a look at the available to Lakers if Rondo is not available.

However, Waiters was just signed for Lakers just before COVID struck and caused lockdown as JR Smith was signed in replacement of Avery Bradly as he opted out of the season resumption at Orlando. Here Rondo has not been ruled out for the season, as a result, Lakers will not have an opportunity to sign another player as his replacement.

Here, where would the issue lie, so two of the known ball handlers, can say the Ball Handlers with maximum playoff experience who are not PG itself have not played in the NBA for more than a year. Yes, in the current season we have seen LeBron James has taken up responsibilities of a Point Guard (PG) for quite some time now & is basically not feasible to continue the same and will have to come back to his Small Forward position once the playoffs resume.

Now according to the current standings, Lakers rest at No.1 spot at the Western Conference, and at the No.8 spot is the surprise package of the season the Ja Morant led Memphis Grizzlies. However, if they manage to clinch the No.8 seed, it could be an easy round 1 for the Lakers as the team comprises of the Rookies and Sophomores.

But right behind Grizzlies are the Lillard led Portland Trailblazers who are 3 games behind the Number 8 seed. They reached the Western Conference Playoffs last season before falling to the Golden State Warriors and this season the team was coping up with injuries, now the whole squad has been listed injury-free where we shall see the return of Jusuf Nurkic and Meyers Leonard. This becomes a formidable frontcourt alongside Hassan Whiteside. Joining them would be Carmelo Anthony, CJ McCollum, and Dame Lillard could prove to be a task for them considering Rondo out with his expertise in reading and directing the game.

Right behind them at 10th seed are the New Orleans Pelicans who have been on a roll since the return of Zion Williamson. Here it becomes a whole new ball game. The newest All-Star and ex- Laker Brandon Ingram has been silencing the doubters since the trade and the whole squad can become a threat if they land upon the 8th seed.

Los Angeles Lakers – the basketball club I supported since the time I started playing off on the court when Kobe claimed his 4th Ring. We had our downs from since the time he claimed his 5th Ring and eventually retired. Here back to the Playoffs after a 7-year hiatus with an All-Star team comprising of Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo to name a few, and this pandemic appeared. Well, the whole world is suffering from the COVID effects, but sports and economy are slowly on a rise and resumption.

Two Best Free Agents who are currently available

As NBA is planning to resume, with the Disney Studio’s at Orlando being the location that has been finalized for its resumption from 30th of July 2020. So the NBA came up with a rule where the players will have an option to sit out of NBA’s resumption owing to COVID factors. LA Lakers PG Avery Bradly decided to sit out of the Orlando bubble as his youngest son suffers from respiratory issues, which is a fair reason to sit out as it could be fatal to his kids and his family.
So now, the Lakers had the option of signing another Point Guard who could be a better off player of the bench and could provide some valuable minutes. Earlier when the season was in full flow, Lakers lost out on their All-Star Center DeMarcus Cousins as he is currently rehabbing from his ACL, where Dwight Howard was signed on a deal, which proved to be a steal considering his impact on the floor. So the place which has been vacated by Bradly is the pivotal one in considering Lakers Quest for Championship. Here are a few of the Notable Players who are free agents.

But here I feel 2 players deserve the cut here, I would not be considering Isaish Thomas owing to his hip injury, but it eventually comes downs to JR Smith and Jamal Crawford. I am just sharing the stats which are seen to be from their previous active season.

I do not want to elaborate much on this, but since 2018-2020 JR Smith has just played 11 competitive games and these are the states for the 11 games in comparison of 64 played by Jamal Crawford and most famously scored 51 points in his final game with Suns.

Its evident that the player who would be signing with the team would be Orlando Rental where the contract would stand till the end of the season and it eventually depends on those important 15 minutes off the bench. Yes, the age difference is 5 years, but is it the Lebron factor that has been influenced in the selection? Who knows, but i just hope this move gets its rewards and make a positive impact rather than a controversial one.

Oklahoma City Thunder – Surprise of the Year?

National Basketball Association (NBA) rightly says – Where Amazing Happens! and the current NBA Season has been nothing short of an amazing season. Can say a roller-coaster ride. A few expected guests heading the Conference Standings and a few unexpected guests stranded at the lower half of the table, notably the NBA Finalists of last season – the Western Conference Champions – Golden State Warriors. Plenty of reasons to be at that position as Kevin Durant left for Brooklyn Nets and Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson ruled out for the season.

Coming back to the Surprise package of the year-Oklahoma City Thunder. This team was considered to have a 0.2% chance of making the playoffs this season and is currently sitting on No.6 seed at a stacked Western Conference.

A complete shift started when they traded their longtime franchise player – Russell Westbrook to Houston Rockets where he reunites with his longtime friend and ex-teammate James Harden, Paul George was then moved to the LA Clippers where he joined hands with Kwahi Leonard, Traded Jerami Grant to the Western Conference giants Denver Nuggets, released Raymond Felton and many more. It was a direction towards a lottery pick for the upcoming season for a rebuild. Every trades were questioned by the NBA Legends, Pundits, ESPN, even the fans were clueless what was up.

Being a longtime OKC follower myself, I was still analyzing how and what were they up-to. 75% of the starting 5 from 2019-19 season was traded leaving Terrence Ferguson and Steven Adams only ones left from the starting 5 of the previous season.

Now, what did they receive – one of the promising rookie of 2018-19 season Shai Gilgeous -Alexander a 21-year-old sophomore from the LA Clippers and Danilo Gallinari as a part of Paul George Trade. Chris Paul enters OKC as a part of Westbrook’s trade to the Houston Rockets. OKC keeps their big man Steven Adams, 6th man Dennis Schroder, Terrance Ferguson and resigns Nerlens Noel.

This team still looks like a lottery team on paper. It seems like entering a new decade with a clueless intention and hell loads of lottery picks. Billy Donovan, OKC’s head coach was unable to guide OKC post 1st round of Playoffs post-Kevin Durant era had a lot to prove here about his coaching capabilities. The only notable player of an All-Star Caliber left in the squad was Chris Paul who was entering the 15th year of his career where he was almost successful in knocking out GSW in the conference semi-finals the past season.

But the story had a different conclusion, Billy Donovan has created heroes amongst the stacked Western Conference. Let us not focus on CP. Here’s a look at Shai Gilgeous -Alexander stats for the season – 19.3 pts, 6.2 rebs, 3.3 assists (all career highs), Contender for 6th Man of the Year Dennis Schroder stats of the bench – 19.3 pts,3.8 rebs,4.0 assists. Danilo Gallinari who himself was questioning his trade to OKC is himself having a career year – 19.3pts, 5.6reb,2.2 assists.

Chris Paul was selected for his 10th All-Star Game in his career making a comeback post-2016 and is currently the cluchest player for the season. The bench has come up strong this season where the average 39.3 points per game which is significantly higher than the Utah Jazz at 31.7, Houston Rockets at 27.4 and Philly at 30.3

They say better late than never, it’s almost a week post the NBA All-Star Weekend 2020 at Chicago and the whole Basketball world is in awe of the Proceedings that took place this year. It was 8 am in India. As I had keenly followed the Rising Challenge, 3 PT Shootout and the Blockbuster Dunk Contest and the day of the All-Star Game I just scroll up my Instagram to have a check on the score and I see that the 1st quarter is already up.

As Curious as I was about how new format would turn out to be and there was just one word for it – AMAZING.

Team Chicago Scholars – Charity to be given by Team LeBron

• Both of the teams would be playing for Chicago Based Communities which will be selected by both the team captains
• The Teams will compete per quarter, were in the team which wins “An Individual” quarter will be taking way the charity amount to their respective Charity and this will go on for the 1st 3 quarters and each of the quarters would reset to 0 when the quarter stars off.
• At the start of the 4th quarter, the time would be stopped and only the 24-second shot clock will be operating and a final score would be set. Where the final score would be decided by taking the cumulative score of all the 3 quarters of both the team and the team which leads in the 3 quarters, al total of 24 will be added which is the uniform number of Kobe Bryant. Here the total score came down to be 157 where the score of 1st 3 quarters of Giannis Team was 133.

It all started in a typical All-Star Game mode where all the guards were lobbing the passes to the Centre and the players were doing their thing. Luka Doncic with his signature step back, Lebron with lobs to AD and the list goes on.

For sure the concept was confusing and looked to be a debacle in the start as nobody knew what could the outcome be. The 1st Quarter was won by Team Lebron and 2nd was taken by Team Giannis. But the game changed when the last minute of the 3rd quarter was up for grabs. Nikola Jokic put down a 3 where then a turnover by Team Giannis put Russell Westbrook on the line where he shot 1 of two. At this point, Team Lebron was leading by two points, but as I said, the game was getting down its business phase, there comes the 1st time All-Star Trae Young to another 1st Time All-Star Rudy Gobert for a beautiful alley-oop wherein the score was tied and the 4th one was destined to be an exciting contest. Here the charity amount was raised in the 4th quarter as there was a tie in the 3rd quarter.

As mentioned the target score was set up at 157 where Team Giannis was already up by 9 points by a combined score of 1st 3 quarters in line with Team Lebron. But Team Lebron came down was all guns blazing with the LA guy I mean ‘The Fun Guy’, Kwahi Leonard. Ideally in an NBA All-Star Game, we do not see high-pressure defense, Shot Blocks, charging fouls, players arguing for calls. Now let me take you to the timeline

• Charging Fouls – Kyle Lowry took two charging fouls causing people to move out of their seats. A few of them were questioning his existence on the court at such a crucial moment.

Nick Nurse played Lowry over Jimmy Butler, Frank Vogel Played Chris Paul over Westbrook but it then came down to the last gasp Free Throw by Lakers Golden Boy Anthony Davis and the game came to an epic end.

To wind up, I hope a tweak should be made about the conclusion of an All-Star game over a Free Throw. How about a One on One Golden Basket where the Matchup would be between the Player who has fouled and the player who has been fouled on – Say Anthony Davis v/s Giannis Antetokoumpo.

It was the time when I had just begun my basketball life & got to know about Derrick Rose via a senior teammate of mine as he had bought D- Rose edition basketball shoes. He was also a fan of his and used to boast up his skills on a daily note. in 2010 – 11 there were less of live NBA matches and live streaming options due to less or no internet facilities and YouTube was still to become a hit in the country. All we knew was Micheal Jordan due to our school textbooks as G.O.A.T and in infamous dunking picture from the free throw line at the ALL – STAR Dunk Contest.

In 2012 there was 3×3 NBA Jam in Mumbai where Adidas was official T-shirt sponsors for the event as Adidas had all NBA Contracts for Kits and they installed LED at the location showcasing Derrick Rose’s Return to upcoming NBA season after missing out on an entire season. This was the time when 3G internet services were introduced in Mobiles which actually helped me to stream about his career as I wanted to know why Adidas has banked so much on Rose. After my research, I got to know that he is the Youngest Ever MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the history of NBA.

Following that year, I have always been following this fallen star knowing all of his rehabilitation stories, his willingness for making a comeback, his rise and fall and so on. Yes, there is one Bryant, one Lebron, the Westbrook’s but this man is one of its kind and definitely one to get inspired from.

What a complete turnaround this has been for the former MVP. From a situation where no team wants him in the roster to a situation where he has become the anchor of the squad. Adding salt to fire, he recently put up a 50 Point game against the team who waived him in just 2 days after acquiring him i.e. Utah Jazz.

This song is probably included in all of my playlists, but for every possible reason where I try to skip this whenever it comes on the loop.
It was around 12.30 at night & I knew her 4 years from now and 3 years I have known that she was in a rocky relationship with a guy of her own. But here it was me who was constantly failing to accept that she wouldn’t be mine at any situation whatsoever, but I was already head over heels for her.
We were in a conversation where she mentioned: “Hey dude if you like someone please tell her as soon as possible, but first, I should be the 1st person to know about her.” It was the next moment I decided to let it all go and I replied: ” It’s You”. There was a stunned silence for an hour and there was me who was silently waiting for her response, I typed a huge message where I mentioned the way she talks in her Firangi accent, how I changed my choices to listen that one compliment when I wear her favorite color shirts, the way she looked on the saree day and the list goes on. The next message from her was “Take care of Yourself, we shall meet soon.”

This was the night where I left my beautiful past behind and till date, the night gives me chills. The following week was the rose day at our college where there was a section to dedicate a song to anyone and the announcement is made that the counter closes in 10 mins. I quickly gather all of my pocket money which my mom used to give me for my daily expenses and counted it and paid at the counter for that one song “Gone Gone Gone’. Then there I stand amidst the crowd with my arms enacting the one last dance and memories of our 1st meet.

To mention, our 1st meet was a challenge which was won by me. It was a situation where she used to think her life has become messy due to her presence all around and her relationship is also taking a toll due to her, to which I always used to try telling her it wasn’t her, but the situation has got her into this stage. But as they say, actions speak louder than words, I had my matches coming up and I insisted her to be around my corner as I told her I am going there to win it all. She was a little surprised as my motive was never to win at the 1st place but it was to play out of pure passion and love for the game. There the lady luck turned to my favor and we actually won resulting my coffee date with her where she took me to have her favorite drink.

As we say, what goes around comes around, People leave, people meet and every action has an equal and opposite reaction, but then there’s me thinking about that one last dance. The excitement on her face when she will offer me her drink ‘ Hot Chocolate with a touch of Mint’ where the same song goes again.

1000 Questions asked every day but Only thing People were concerned about was the amount of Protein Scoops I take. The total money I spend on the artificial products to attain the shape I want. But Nobody would like to listen to the struggle. It’s not only me, but the people who are slogging their ass off at the gym would also relate this to their everyday life’s.

A Person who weighs 130kg slogs every day with a clean diet, eliminating all the rubbish food in her daily activities gets into the Jeans which she was dreaming off. The Next question asked ‘Was it a Lipo? Or the Fat-burners did the change? Oh, the wait was that the Slim Sauna Belts. These are Frequently asked questions by the people who chirp on food 24*7. People who are not Appreciative of things done by people for their own. Maybe the Person has suffered for her Fatness, Throughout her school, she was Taunted by his/her Peers for being who He/she is.

Fitness or Gym to be Specific is something a person who is obsessed about. There are people who are obsessed about singing, dancing and doing things which they find great to do. Yes, there is exceptional patience and dedication required for the same which helps them to outshine in the crowd.
Nobody questions their efforts by judging “Steroid’s Bro?”

Maybe this blog can be considered as a ‘RANT’ or maybe a slam the few haters who aren’t interested in the workload to be done. By Default the choice is theirs.

Regardless of where an individual’s fitness Journey lies, we people never fail to show up at places where mental toughness and strength is concerned. So the next time lets hit the Session together, maybe steroids won’t work this time.

A Few Situations are Worthless but are Worth Telling it to You.

A Lil campus story, a little moment of madness, a daily situation which passes by me. A sight that is beautiful as ever.

Flashback to the Onam Days at Symbiosis. It is My Childhood Dream of meeting that woman in a Beautiful White Kanjivaram saree. Its rightly said ‘Kismat ka Khel hai Saara – Ye kya se kya ho gya’ let me translate this to all of my Mallu Friends, ‘ Its all about the Fate – I myself do not know what has happened here’.

Talking about my Flashback, there is this huge Ayappa Temple bang Opposite my house. Every last week of December there is a Huge Procession of Ayappa Devotees where the Handsome Guys and the Pretty Ladies who are in their Traditional wear carry out their offerings.

I guess Lord Ayappa had his one eye on my fantasy. Coming back to my college Onam Day, there were people who were serving food where I and my batch mates were hogging on to the Rassam and the Papddam. And within a Flash, there was this Girl in Yellow, a Dusky Woman, with chubby cheeks and when she smiled, it was a moment of stunned silence. All this happened in the span of one gulp of my Rassam and the Rassam tasted better than ever.

I wished to tell this to her at the very moment, but there she was sitting with her friends and clicking selfies. Yes and from that day that moment was there to stay, that smile shines brighter than the moon, I have changed my Favorite from Navy Blue to Yellow where I wish to be her Fellow.
Yes, the moment is worthless, but I wish to tell it to you,
Yes, the moment is not Pricey, but I wish to tell you and make it priceless,
I wish to tell you what goes through in my mind when you pass by the Annex Road, the Tapri, the New and the Old Hostel, the Gym.
Although you are never to be seen in most of the places, I just wish that you could have been there.
