Rise Up for Rose

‘He was flying and came down on his left foot, ankle or knee, I do not know’

It was the time when I had just begun my basketball life & got to know about Derrick Rose via a senior teammate of mine as he had bought D- Rose edition basketball shoes. He was also a fan of his and used to boast up his skills on a daily note. in 2010 – 11 there were less of live NBA matches and live streaming options due to less or no internet facilities and YouTube was still to become a hit in the country. All we knew was Micheal Jordan due to our school textbooks as G.O.A.T and in infamous dunking picture from the free throw line at the ALL – STAR Dunk Contest.

In 2012 there was 3×3 NBA Jam in Mumbai where Adidas was official T-shirt sponsors for the event as Adidas had all NBA Contracts for Kits and they installed LED at the location showcasing Derrick Rose’s Return to upcoming NBA season after missing out on an entire season. This was the time when 3G internet services were introduced in Mobiles which actually helped me to stream about his career as I wanted to know why Adidas has banked so much on Rose. After my research, I got to know that he is the Youngest Ever MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the history of NBA.

Following that year, I have always been following this fallen star knowing all of his rehabilitation stories, his willingness for making a comeback, his rise and fall and so on. Yes, there is one Bryant, one Lebron, the Westbrook’s but this man is one of its kind and definitely one to get inspired from.

  • Let’s have a look at his Resume
  • Season 2011/2012 Playoffs – ACL Tear
  • Season 2012/2013 – Year Absence due to injury
  • Season 2013/2014 – Return and Torn Meniscus
  • Season 2014/2015 – Return back to the PlayOffs, but was forced to have another surgery due to Meniscus troubles. Missed 6 Weeks
  • Season 2016/2017 – Traded to New York Knicks and tore meniscus again
  • Season 2017/2018 – Signed for Cleveland Cavs, but then his injury vow’s continued and had to stop playing and had considered retirement at a certain point.
  • The same season was traded to Utah Jazz but was then waived 2 days later
  • Season 2018/2019 – Signed with Minnesota Timberwolves and currently averages 19 PPG (Points Per Game), 4.9 APG (Assist Per Game), 3.8 RPG (Rebound Per Game)

What a complete turnaround this has been for the former MVP. From a situation where no team wants him in the roster to a situation where he has become the anchor of the squad. Adding salt to fire, he recently put up a 50 Point game against the team who waived him in just 2 days after acquiring him i.e. Utah Jazz.

After the game he quoted saying – ‘I worked my ass off man’

The former MVP is now on a mission to be named as the Most Improved Player of the NBA 6th man of the year awards for the upcoming season. He is currently the most instrumental player in building a dynasty at Wolves as the whole squad is young and a veteran presence works wonders everywhere after they lost out on an All-Star Jimmy Butler.

As the season has just started and let us see if he does end up his career with an NBA Championship. Before summing it up, after his current 50 Point game the Current Best Player in the league,LeBron James Quoted

He Showed that he is still a superhero’
